The thirteenth Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Food Science & Technology Sri Lanka was held on 05th October 2024 at Renuka City Hotel Colombo 03 on 6.00 pm onwards. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Anoma Chandrasekara, the President of IFSTSL.
The outgoing President, Prof. Anoma Chandrasekara, outlined the potential of the IFSTSL to significantly contribute to the advancement of food science and technology in Sri Lanka. She highlighted plans to organize webinars, training programs, workshops, and courses, as well as the society’s role in influencing policies and regulations within the country’s food sector.
The newly elected President, Dr. Sumudu Warnakulasuriya, emphasized the need to plan initiatives that go beyond the regular activities, including membership promotion efforts and encouraging greater involvement from members in IFSTSL’s programs. She highlighted the importance of identifying the needs of the industry to ensure relevant activities are planned.
Additionally, Prof. Niranjan Rajapakse, Member of Board of Governors, proposed taking the Food Techno and IFSTSL to the next level by expanding its activities internationally leveraging the benefits of the society’s membership in IUFoST.
